The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for Full-Time Patrol Deputy, Reserve Patrol Deputy, Animal Control Deputy, Deputy Jailer and Communications Positions

The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office serves a diverse and growing community of approximately 35,000 people. Our rural Southeast Texas area is approximately 700 Square Miles in size and is home to Lake Livingston – the second largest lake in Texas. Our County also has 66% National Forest and is a seasonal playground to lots of folks from the big city who are looking for some rural play time. We are approximately 65 miles Northeast of Houston along US 59. We are a 24-hour full service law enforcement agency and provide patrol, investigative, tactical and specialized law enforcement services to the county.

We utilize modern and well-appointed equipment and technology. Our patrol deputies work 12-hour shifts on a 4X3 basis. This gives the deputy 7 days on and 7 days off in a 2 week pay period. While we look for experienced applicants, we accept applications from individuals who have recently graduated a Police Academy. The Deputy in training is full time and paid during field training process.

Our starting salary is for Peace Officer personnel is $15.68 per hour. Overtime is paid as Comp Time. The county has a very liberal holiday policy, granting 16 holidays per year. Paid vacation is eligible after 1 year of employment. San Jacinto County offers a full benefits package, including comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage. Retirement is through the Texas County and District Retirement System. Uniforms, except undergarments, footwear and weapons, are provided. Shotguns and Patrol Rifles are issued after qualification. Most deputies are issued a Take-home unit, depending on the distance they live from the county seat.
