Waller County Sheriff's Office (Sexual Assault Investigator Position)

The investigator’s primary responsibility is to conduct investigations into sexual assault crimes and to work in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies in Waller County. When a complaint is filed, the investigator will conduct a prompt and thorough investigation which will include identifying and interviewing witnesses, gathering and securing relevant evidence. The investigator must maintain contact with the District Attorney’s Office and provide the accurate and complete updates on the progress of the investigation. . The investigator will review investigations with the designated prosecutor within the District Attorney’s Office before referring a case for review or obtaining an arrest warrant.

Minimum of (2) years’ experience as a law enforcement investigator
Intermediate T.C.O.L.E. Certification or above
Basic computer skills
SAFVIC (Sexual Assault Family Violence Investigator Course)
Interview & interrogation training
Knowledge of local Child Advocacy Center’s procedures and services
Willingness to regularly attend monthly Child Advocacy Center multi-disciplinary team case review meetings (CRT Meeting)
Knowledge of forensics for cell phones, computers, etc.
Understanding and ability to complete search warrants
Prior court testimony

Must possess strong organization, planning, analytic and problem solving abilities
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to remain neutral
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, multitasks and meet sensitive timelines.
Use discretion and good judgment and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
Must be self-motivated with the ability to work well with others as a team member regardless of rank or assignment

$ 26.00 hourly + County issued vehicle
